Tabarnak, Jackets Look to Bounce Back

Mmmmmkay we’re going to ignore last night’s game. That work for everyone? Good. Works for me.

The only thing I will say about last night is congrats to Lukas for scoring Columbus’ lone goal. The smiley boy deserves it.

Good or bad, the boys in blue don’t get a second of rest. All they can do is try to atone for their sins in tonight’s match up against the Montreal Canadiens.

The game tonight is a big one. The CBJ hold the third spot in the Metro by virtue of a tie-breaker over the Pens. The Hurricanes are only one point behind, so if Columbus wants to keep their playoff dreams alive, they need to stomp out the Canadiens.

If Montreal wants some extra security in their playoff spot, they need to stomp out Columbus. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Some positive news though, the good guys have a 16-7-1 record after losing a game according to Jackets writer, Jeff Svoboda.

What this game boils down to is which team is going to be the best of the worst. Neither team can boast a stellar record. They’re not doing bad by any means; they’re not the Ottawa Senators who are sitting pretty in last place. But they both need to step up their game.

Watch Brandon Gallagher talk with the media on the importance of tonight's game:

Montreal has lost their last four games starting with an OT loss to the Maple Leafs. What makes it worse is that they haven’t even been losing by a little bit. They have thoroughly been getting their asses kicked in these four games.

On Thursday, Montreal lost to the Preds 1-3, and then on Saturday, they lost to Tampa Bay 0-3 (don’t worry too much on that one, guys. We feel your pain). Finally, they lost to the Panthers 3-6.

To say the Habs are having a hard time is a bit of an understatement. That doesn’t mean that we can go easy on them. After the performance last night, Columbus needs to prove they’re still a team to be reckoned with.

When the two teams first met up this season, the Canadiens were able to defeat Columbus 4-1 including two empty-netters. After tonight, Columbus will only have one more game against the Habs, so they need to establish who the better team is.

With a win tonight, Columbus can tie up the series, and hopefully go on to win the series with the final match in March.

Look for Dubi to hopefully make his way back into the lineup tonight. He’s missed the last seven games with a hip injury, but Columbus activated him off IR last night.

The team has also placed Sherwood back with the Monsters and have pulled up Adam Clendening.
