In a shocking turn of events, the Blue Jackets were able to overcome their two-goal deficit against St. Louis to pull off the win Thursday night.
After trailing the majority of the first period, Columbus ticked off four unanswered goals and ultimately won the game 7-4. Two goals came from Boone Jenner, two from Anthony Duclair, and the remaining three goals from Josh Anderson, David Savard, and Seth Jones.
A major key of winning that fight? Joonas Korpisalo.
Korpi made 33 saves on St. Lous and is undefeated in all three of his starts. He has only allowed four goals this season. Sergei Bobrovsky, however, has allowed three goals at least in each of his previous four starts. He is currently 2-4-0.
On Buffalo’s end, Linus Ullmark will make the start. The young goalie has only faced Columbus once before, but he made 44 saves for a 3-1 victory all the way back in January.
Ullmark is also undefeated in every game he’s started and has only allowed one goal.
"Linus has played outstanding for us, just looking at his numbers," coach Phil Housley said. "We knew we had to get Linus back in. That's why he's playing tonight. But this is going to be a tough challenge for him.”
Buffalo is currently undefeated in their past five games and they’re looking to add to their streak. Before Thursday night, Columbus had a three-game losing streak.
Columbus did not practice on Friday, but a few Sabres players took part in their optional morning skate.
Update on Dubinsky: the veteran has been practicing with the team, but it has been with minimal contact.
