Bob's Your Uncle

In his 2018-2019 debut, Sergei Bobrovsky will mind the net for the home opener against the Carolina Hurricanes.

After Joonas Korpisalo held his own last night against the Detroit Red Wings in a 3-2 overtime victory, Sergei Bobrovsky will get his turn tonight.

With rumors flying around that Bobrovsky won't be signing with the team after this season, Head Coach John Tortorella wanted to make it clear that this was a tactful decision. He gave both goalies the opportunity to play with the back-to-back games.

Previously, Bobrovsky had a 37-22-6 record in the last season with 2.42 goals-against average. He also boasted five shutouts. Korpisalo went 8-8-1 with a 3.32 GAA. The rookie didn't record any shutouts.

In addition to switching up the goalies, Tortorella will also likely be changing the lines around.

During the previous game, Tortorella moved Nick Foligno and Sonny Milano to different lines. Milano started off on the fourth line with Duclair and Nash, but later played on the Wennberg -- Bjorkstrand line. Foligno then played as the centerman for Nash and Duclair.

Furthermore, Torts wasn't happy with the other lines. He liked the goon line of Anderson -- Dubinsky -- Jenner, but he wasn't happy with this top line.

Torts was quoted as saying that the Atkinson -- Dubois -- Panarin line was just "okay".

Regardless, Atkinson was happy with his play and saw the positives in the Jackets' power play.

"We found a way to get one," he said. "I felt for the most part every time we stepped on the ice we were a threat, which is important because if you don't score you want to gain the momentum and have the momentum when the power play's done."

On Carolina's side, there could be a familiar face in net.

The Hurricanes recently picked up former Blue Jackets goalie Curtis McElhinney on waivers and have opted to start him tonight rather than Petr Mrazek who lost in his debut to the New York Islanders on Thursday. Carolina's primary goalie, Scott Darling, is out with a lower-body injury.
